Informative videos on coexisting with brown bears (IT)
A series of six informative videos on coexistence with brown bears was created as part of the LIFE ARCPROM project by project partners WWF Italy and Maiella National Park.
1. THE APPENNINE BROWN BEAR
Why is human-bear coexistence important? Who is the Appennine brown bear? And what can we do to help protect it? WWF Italy and the Maiella National Park present “6 for the bear! Tips for coexisting with the Marsican brown bear”, a journey through six topics to learn about the bear, discover interesting facts and build coexistence together.
2. RULES OF COEXISTENCE
Coexistence with large carnivores such as the Marsican brown bear is essential for conservation. Understanding bears and respecting their wild nature, keeping your distance and protecting food and waste, allows us to coexist safely while respecting their habitat.
3. THE MYTH OF THE HUNGRY BEAR
Bears approach populated areas for food, which they find to be an easy, calorie-rich fast food source. But not all bears are willing to risk interaction with humans. In order to coexist, it is essential to make food and waste inaccessible, protecting both ourselves and the bears.
4. DO BEARS HAVE A NAME?
Do bears have names? Let’s find out together what naming a wild animal can entail and how this can affect human-bear coexistence in this fourth instalment of the column ‘6 for the bear! Tips for coexisting with the Marsican brown bear’.
5. PROTECTING BEARS: WHO BENEFITS?
Humans and nature are interconnected; we depend on healthy ecosystems. Protecting the Marsican brown bear preserves our future. Understanding, respecting and supporting its conservation, working together, builds coexistence for the benefit of both.
6. THE BEAR’S TRAIL
A trail dedicated to the Appennine brown bear, where you can walk through its habitat, play and have fun while learning lots of interesting facts. This is the Bear Trail! A way to get closer to the Marsican brown bear through an experience suitable for young and old alike. The latest episode of the series ‘6 for the bear! Tips for coexisting with the Marsican brown bear’ is dedicated to him.
