On the Paths of Coexistence, in the Rhodope Mountain Range National Park
A tour of the Coexistence Trail in Nestos, Paranesti, created as part of the European LIFE ARCPROM project, was organized on Saturday, May 10, 2025, by the environmental organization Callisto and the Management Unit of the Rhodope Mountain Range National Park, with the participation of primary and secondary education teachers.
The thematic bear trail begins at the settlement of Xagnanto, follows a small rural road amidst fields, and gently leads to the river. During the walk, the educational material produced under the LIFE ARCPROM project was presented, and discussions were held on the importance of raising awareness about human-bear coexistence, as well as the necessity of understanding the complexity of environmental and social processes.
Following the walk, an event was held to present the educational material and other project activities in the event hall of Kato Tholos, Paranesti. In the afternoon, a discussion with local residents took place about the actions and outcomes of the LIFE ARCPROM project.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants who contributed to the success of these events. Coexistence between humans and wildlife is achievable through awareness, education, and collaboration.
