On Sunday 3/12/2023, a sensitized citizen notified the Police that on the 106th kilometer of the Ioannina-Kozani National Road, between Playa Konitsa and Eptachori, Kastoria, there are 3 dead bears shot. On 19 December 2022, the Maiella National Park and WWF Italy awarded the Bear Friendly label to 20 companies during an event held at the Park's headquarters in Sulmona. LIFE ARCPROM

The LIFE ARCPROM project (LIFE18 NAT / GR / 000768) aims at improving human-bear coexistence in four National Parks of S.Europe, three in Greece and one in Italy. The project started in October 2019 and will last for 5 years. Partners of the project are four National Parks (Prespa, Northern Pindos, Rhodope Mountain range and Majella), two universities (the ones of Thessaly and of Western Macedonia), and two environmental organizations (Callisto and WWF Italy). The project is co-financed by 75% by the EU's LIFE program the Green Fund and the partners' own resources, while the total budget is € 2,786,497.
