Information meeting on the replication and transfer of LIFE ARCPROM actions to other regions

On Thursday, December 12th 2024, the Maiella National Park and WWF Italy organized a meeting in the frame of Action E3 to favour the replication of the activities developed during the LIFE ARCPROM in other portions of the Apennine brown bear actual and potential range. Protected areas of the Central Apennines, the Regions interested by bear presence and representatives of the LIFE BEAR-SMART CORRIDORS were thus invited to the meeting held at the operational headquarters of MNP in Sulmona.

Six other protected areas (Sirente-Velino and Simbruini Regional Parks, the Abetina di Rosello, Montagne della Duchessa, Lago Posta Fibreno, Monte Genzana e Alto Gizio Nature Reserves), 1 Region (Molise) and 2 representatives of the LIFE BEAR-SMART CORRIDORS attended the meeting. An overview of MNP and WWF activity during the five years of the LIFE ARCPROM project was illustrated, with an emphasis on those actions that had proven most effective and had a high potential of replicability. Actions related to the technical level were addressed (use of damage-protection measures and deterrent devices) as well as actions concerning stakeholder involvement, education and mobilization of volunteers.

To facilitate the sharing of experiences and knowledge from MNP/WWF to the other entities, participants were asked to individuate the specific tasks considered as potentially replicable in their area in order to receive additional specific information.
